Selene Reborn – Book Three
Freedom has been promised.
Now it must be armed.
The Moon remains enslaved—its people bound by ancient magic and ruled by a tyrant who has watched empires rise and fall. Though diplomacy has won allies on Earth, speeches and treaties cannot break chains forged over centuries.
To liberate Selene, its champions must attempt the impossible: turn a steam-age Earth into the industrial backbone of a lunar rebellion. Factories must rise from nothing. Technologies must leap decades ahead of their time. Fortunes must be raised, risked, and spent in a world where every innovation draws predators—political, commercial, and supernatural alike.
As inventors race to transform vision into steel and power, alliances strain under pressure. Earth’s great nations see opportunity as much as justice. Industrialists weigh profit against principle. And far above, a watchful enemy may already sense the first sparks of rebellion being struck.
Because if the Moon is ever to be free, its people must do more than ask for help.
They must forge the weapons of revolution—before their enemy realizes the war has already begun.
Forging the Chain Breakers is the pivotal third volume of the Selene Reborn series, blending steampunk invention, alternate history, political intrigue, and the gathering storm of war. It is the bridge between diplomacy and open conflict—the moment when ideals are tested, power is built, and the true cost of freedom comes into view.
Perfect for readers who enjoy:
• Steampunk science fiction and retro-futurism
• Alternate history with political intrigue
• Epic revolutions and slow-burn war stories
• Inventors, industrial power, and moral conflict
• Series with rising stakes and long-term payoffs

About the Author
Read the result of 45 years of learning to tell stories
Malcolm Upton started telling stories to entertain others (rather than just get out of trouble) back when computers weren’t personal and paper and pencil Role Playing Games were the only RPGs around – and even they were new. After practicing his skill for a decade, he tried his hand and translating an RPG campaign into a post apocalypse fantasy novel. Much rejection from traditional publishers (the only type at the time) ensued.
Setting storytelling into the hobby category for more than 30 years, he focused on becoming an International Speaker and business coach. Along the way, he self-published two business books on Amazon. Using that experience he tried fiction again in 2024.
After some false starts and an abortive attempt to write fan fiction (Harry Potter adopted by Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), he wrote the first of a series of Steampunk/Alternate History stories in the Victorian Interplanetary universe. These combine actual historical people, with science fantasy elements to provide a good, entertaining read.
