A mysterious foreign nobleman stalks the night. Wolves answer his call. An eccentric Dutch physician named Abraham Van Helsing arrives with garlic, crucifixes, and disturbing knowledge of the undead. And among the guests at Knebworth is an observant Irish writer named Bram Stoker—quietly taking notes about events that seem increasingly familiar.

Soon Walter, Eleanor, and Sekmet are hunting a vampire across Victorian England alongside Van Helsing and Jonathan Harker. But the deeper they pursue Count Wampyr, the more the world comes apart. Journeys take impossible amounts of time. Memories contradict themselves. Events occur before their causes.

And Bram writes things down before they happen.

The vampire is real. He is deadly.

But he may not be the greatest danger.

Something is taking dreams, fears, memories, and unwritten stories—and making them real. Unless Walter and Eleanor can discover the rules of this impossible world before the story reaches its ending, they may become characters in a nightmare from which there is no escape.
